Organized in 1971, the Klokken Ringers have been widely acclaimed locally, nationally and internationally for their performances. They have appeared throughout the Hudson Valley at numerous historic sites including Vanderbuilt and Mills mansions, Lake Mohonk Mountain House, Bear Mountain, West Point Cadet Chapel, Vassar College, and in New York City at the Riverside Church, the Historical Society, the National Arts Club. By special invitation, the Klokken Ringers have appeared at the Music Educators' National Conferences in Washington, D.C., Chicago and Atlantic City. They have been well received at Area and National Handbell Festivals sponsored by the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers (of which the choir is a member), where they have performed solos, concerts, worship services and workshops.
The International Handbell Symposium is held biennially featuring choirs by audition and invitation from countries worldwide. The Klokken Ringers have been a part of many of these Symposia. The group tours regularly, performing at churches, schools, colleges and universities, and historic sites. Locally, the choir is in demand for performances at church services and congregational activities, social and civic events and weddings. They are regular particapants in AGEHR Areal and National Handbell Festivals and Conferences.
The Klokken Ringers are a Music Ministry of the New Hackensack Reformed Church. They perform on a set of 73 precision-tuned English handbell manufactured by Schulmerich Carillons, Inc., Sellersville, Pennsylvania and utilize a set of 61 Choirchimes manufactured by Malmark, Inc., Plumstead, Pennsylvania. They present a varied program of music for handbells and other instruments, music for ringing and singing, arrangements of familiar tunes, special occasion pieces and original compositions for handbells.
